Please Do Your Woodworking Safely!
Safety in the use of woodworking tools is of first importance. You should know and use all the safety features of your equipment. Here are some additional safety suggestions that Woodware Designs stresses:
- Know your equipment -- Read the manuals and follow good practices.
- Keep your equipment maintained and aligned -- Do not use power equipment that is in poor repair or out of alignment.
- Don't use power tools after using alcohol or drugs -- Even a small amount of beer can impair hand-to-eye coordination enough to make the use of power tools dangerous. A medication for cold relief taken the night before can make operation of power tools dangerous in the morning.
- Keep work your area clean -- The buildup of dust and scrap on tools and the floor can cause trip hazards.
- Don't lay materials or tools on power equipment -- It is all too easy to lay the next piece to cut on the saw. This is a dangerous practice.
- Make jigs for difficult cuts -- Jigs not only make awkward cuts safer but greatly improve the precision of the operation as well.
- Keep hands away from power cutters -- Use proper pushers and guides
- Always use eye protection -- Store your eye protection by hanging it where you must put a hand on it to power up you tool. A simple hook that positions the protective device over the power switch is most effective.

Thanks again, and have fun.
